We are back from Social Gaming Summit 2010, where we had great meetings with some of our partners in our next massive, social game for Facebook & iPhone now in development. If you are a social game developer or just curious about the space, here is one presentation you don’t want to miss:

Consumer weblog Kotaku recently published a series of humorous images intended to satirize and lament the fact that if Super Mario were invented today, every time you found a mushroom, it would push to share it with your friends…

April 22: Mobile Apps Roundtable

Posted by Scottin Uncategorized

If your are in NYC, catch us this Thursday, April 22nd, as we are sitting to the table together with other devs, industry execs from Sony Music, Bravo TV, VC’s and angles to talk about the latest development in the mobile apps industry.

We’ll also be demoing Body Painting, our latest entry to the app store.

Body Painting was approved to the App Store this week (with the bikini models – thanks Apple for recognizing the artistic nature of the app!). Developed in partnership with VIMUA which produces and distributes a professional line of make up, brushes and bodypainitng colors; Body Painting is not only a fun finger painting app but also the first digital art market for renowned body painters from all over the world to feature their work. It was first demoed last Feb at the North American Body Painting Championship in Vegas and got rave reviews.

It took 4 months to develop (but that’s a separate post, so make sure to subscribe to our feed). The app will see constant updates of marvelous, original, body painting artwork from renowned body painters all around the world. New artwork will be available for purchase through the in-app Art Store.

You can get Body Painting for your iPhone here.

We also produced (with the help of Phil & Tom from Musher Lovelund Photography) a high definition video demo that you can watch here (also a separate post coming soon with more details).

Unfortunately, since we’ve been busy shipping out our new Body Painting app for iPhone, we couldn’t make it to the Game Developer Conference this year. However, over the last month, we were lucky enough to attend one event and watch another one online, both by top game designers, both capturing and defining the current state and the future of gaming.

The first event took place at the NYU Skirball Center, we had the honor to listen (and to discuss our new social game venture face to face at the Reception right after) to Will Wright talking about What Makes Games (Good) for Learning.

The second event took place last month in Vegas as part of D.I.C.E 2010. It was Jesse Schell’s, astounding talk, about the future of game design as it invades the real world. If you do experience design of any kind, watching this video will be the most valuable (and entertaining) 20 minutes you’ll spend this week.

March 16, 2010

Play – an excellent, thought provoking, short film by David Kaplan & Eric Zimmerman (who also trained the partisans at GUERILLAPPS on Game Design back at the ITP days) is an interesting notion of reality and gaming.
Drawing from some of our favorite movies in the twisting reality genre, like eXistenZ and The Game, Play imagines [...]

Why Use a Maxi-Pad When There is The New iPad from Apple?

February 1, 2010

The partisans at GUERILLAPPS were ROFL last Wed at the office but it wasn’t Steve Jobs’s iPad announcement (though we do find his following words funny: “Amazon’s done a great job of pioneering this functionality with the Kindle. We’re going to stand on their shoulders and go a little further.” – it’s Steve Job’s way [...]
